We are recruiting a Third Engineer for a 60-metre private motor yacht with an extensive cruising schedule. The vessel maintains a high standard of engineering readiness and undertakes regular offshore passages. The engineering team values proactive work, cleanliness, accountability, communication, and a positive attitude toward vessel operations and crew culture.

The successful candidate will support the Chief and Second Engineer in the day-to-day running of all engineering systems on board and will be expected to take ownership of assigned areas while assisting with ongoing maintenance projects. This is a rotational position that provides an excellent opportunity to grow into a strong engineering career within a professional and motivated team.

The role start date is to be determined, but this is an imminent placement, and candidates required to give notice will be considered.

Job Specification

  • STCW Basic Safety Training
  • ENG 1 Medical
  • Seafarer's Discharge Book
  • Preferably hold good passport or both B1/B2 and Schengen Visas
  • AEC 1 and AEC 2 (higher COC's advantageous)
  • Heavy equipment, mining, agricultural, diesel mechanic backgrounds are preferred and advantageous
  • Additional technical training related to electrical systems, refrigeration, hydraulics, or control systems
  • Previous experience as 3rd or 4th Engineer or strong experience as an Assistant Engineer on a similar sized vessel
  • Confident with mechanical systems, pumps, compressors, generators, and general engineering equipment
  • Able to follow maintenance schedules and work independently on delegated tasks
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities with a hands-on approach
  • Good communication skills and the ability to integrate into a focused and supportive crew
  • High personal standards, professionalism, and a proactive attitude
  • Calm under pressure and able to adapt to changing operational needs
  • Reliable, organised, and disciplined in record keeping
