We are currently seeking a Rotational Chief Engineer to join a 55m motor yacht operating a dual-season programme supporting both private and charter use. This position requires a hands-on engineer with a proactive mindset toward maintaining and improving onboard systems, managing planned maintenance schedules, and ensuring accurate technical documentation and records. The successful candidate should demonstrate a positive and cooperative attitude, with a willingness to assist across departments when needed. Clear communication with the Captain and strong collaboration with the engineering team are key elements of the role. The engineer will work closely with the 2nd Engineers and rotational counterpart to deliver both day-to-day operational reliability and ongoing improvements within the engine room. The vessel has recently completed a comprehensive shipyard period during which a significant number of systems and machinery components were serviced or overhauled. As a result, the technical condition of the vessel is strong and well maintained. 
 
Strong technical capability is required across electrical and electronic (AVIT included) systems, hydraulic equipment, and diesel engine diagnostics. Applications are welcomed from engineers holding the following certifications: Chief Engineer Y1 or Y2, Chief Engineer (SV (<3000gt <9000kW)), Chief Engineer 2nd Unlimited.

Job Specification

  • Valid STCW '10 Certificates
  • Valid ENG1 Medical with no restrictions
  • Proficiency in Designated Security Duties (PDSD)
  • Certificate of Competency (COC) - Chief Engineer Y1 or Y2, Chief Engineer (SV), Chief Engineer 2nd Unlimited.
  • Minimum 2+ years' experience on a similar-sized vessel as Chief Engineer preferred
  • Good health and good sobriety
  • Must speak excellent English, i.e., be 100% fluent at mother tongue level
  • Must have good written references and contact details must be provided.
  • Non-smoker / no visible tattoos preferred
  • MTU Experience an advantage
