An experienced and motivated Second Engineer (EOOW) is sought for a prestigious 80m+ private and charter motor yacht operating throughout the Mediterranean, Adriatic, and Caribbean. Joining an established engineering team comprising a Chief Engineer, 1st Engineer, ETO, two 2nd Engineers (onboard at all times), the successful candidate will enjoy a varied role with excellent long-term prospects. Reporting through an established engineering hierarchy, this position offers a balanced workload and responsibility level, making it particularly well suited to experienced Third Engineers, junior Second Engineers, or commercially trained EOOWs looking to transition into the yacht industry.

This is a hands-on role within a proactive engineering department where initiative, professionalism, and a positive attitude are highly valued. The vessel offers a structured rotational package in a well-established engineering team and increasing charter activity, making it an excellent opportunity for an engineer seeking stability, sea time, and professional growth aboard a world-class yacht.

Job Specification

  • Valid STCW '10 Certificates
  •  Valid ENG1 Medical with no restrictions
  •  Certificate of Competency: EOOW Unlimited (STCW III/1) or equivalent
  •  Particularly suited to experienced 3rd Engineers, junior 2nd Engineers, or EOOW-qualified engineers seeking long-term development within a large yacht engineering department.
  •  Preferably 2–5 years of relevant maritime engineering experience but all candidates considered
  •  Strong practical mechanical and electrical troubleshooting ability
  •  Strong HVAC experience advantageous
  •  Experience with IDEA planned maintenance systems desirable
  •  Positive, proactive and self-motivated attitude
  •  Ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit engineering team
  •  Strong written and spoken English
  •  Good references and referee contact details required
  •  The vessel is strictly non-smoking, but social offboard smoking may be tolerable.
  •  Visible tattoos preferably minimal and non-offensive
  •  Candidates seeking long-term stability preferred
  •  Visa assistance may be considered for exceptional candidates

Benefits

  • Salary: EUR 6,000 per month fixed at this point in time (reflective of the vessel's engineering structure and level of responsibility)
  •  Rotation: 2:2 (approximately 10 weeks on / 10 weeks off)
  •  Handover with outgoing Second Engineer planned (1 week)
